Corporate History
-
1933
Rothfuchs ING was founded in Mettmenstetten, Switzerland.
Later, the European company name was changed to ROFU AG. During this time, the company opened a manufacturing plant in Taiwan, while maintaining offices in Zurich and producing electric strikes in Germany.
-
1980
Peter Rothfuchs moved to California and opened a separate US division, naming the company ROFU International Corporation. The ROFU trademark as commonly known today is owned by this US division. Manufacturing is shared by the US and European divisions.
-
1994
With Peter Rothfuchs's passing, Len Guyt became CEO and owner of ROFU International Corp.
Few executives in North America have contributed as much to the security hardware industry. Len was the face of ROFU for many years and instrumental in establishing ROFU as an industry-leading brand in North America. Len sold ROFU International Corp. in 2015.
-
2000
Assa Abloy purchases the European operation, ROFU AG. The acquisition does not include the US-based operation or the rights to the ROFU trademark.
-
2017
CDVI (Americas) purchases ROFU Security International Corp, acquiring the marketing rights to the brand and products.
This purchase enables CDVI to supply complete door solutions, including ‘best-in-class’ door hardware. At the same time, it gives ROFU access to CDVI’s global manufacturing network and a vast array of new door activation, locking, and control devices.
